‘I am delighted to have attended a meeting yesterday evening with Minister Stephen Donnelly where he informed us of details of approved funding for €19 million – possibly rising to €20 million, to address the issue of chronic waiting times for paediatric orthopaedic surgeries. I am hugely reassured to hear that the plan outlined at the meeting received the backing of the wonderful paediatric orthopaedic consultant surgeon, Connor Green. Mr Green assured me that this plan, and the funding accompanying it, will see a huge improvement in surgery waiting times for children living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.
Like Connor, SBHI will monitor developments very closely to ensure that the promises made will become promises delivered.
